
The Seventh Arts Festival “Danube Waves” was officially opened
The Seventh Arts Festival “Danube Waves” was officially opened with a concert of Sinfonietta – Vidin and soloists from the Folk Songs and Dance Ensemble “Danube”. This year the festival provides for a varied program and the participation of more than 300 participants, thanks to project CB007.1.11.207 “Development of competitive tourist attractions for year-round festival tourism that contributes to the diversification of tourist products in the region of Vidin – Zajecar, No RD-02-29-261 / 22.11.2016 financed under Interreg-IPA Bulgaria-Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation Program 2014-2020. The main objective of the project is to support the development of competitive tourist attractions through: promotion and development of festival tourism and key activity is the holding of the upcoming emblematic for the region festival.
At the opening greeting to all participants and guests, Vidin Municipality Mayor Ognian Tzenkov wished success and a wonderful mood during the festival days. A greeting was also made by the regional governor of Vidin – Albena Georgieva. “I wish excellent presentation to all participants in the upcoming cultural and entertainment events. I wish the audience unforgettable moments and very positive emotions” she said.
Several concerts, dialects, art workshops, theatrical and circus performances are planned within the Festival. One of the days in the Danube town will be a picture portrait of the Danube river, one kilometre long. The last night of the festival is devoted to folklore, with the participation of Antimovo Spiritual Music and professional and amateur groups from Bulgaria and Serbia. For the time, the “Younashkia Tigan”, which will present authentic cuisine for the region, is also planned.
