Project: “Development of competitive tourist attractions for year-round festival tourism, which contributes to the diversification of tourist products in the region of Vidin – Zajecar, Ref. № CB007.1.11.207

Vidin Municipality in partnership with the municipality of Zajecar ends the implementation of a project under INTERREG-IPP for cross-border cooperation Bulgaria – Serbia. The project “Development of competitive tourist attractions for year-round festival tourism that contributes to the diversification of tourist products in the region of Vidin – Zajecar”, Ref. № CB007.1.11.207 is realized under Priority Axis 1: Sustainable tourism, specific objective 1.1 Tourist attractiveness.
The main objective that the project has achieved with the implementation of the activities included is to study the festivals in Bulgaria and Serbia and to promote the opportunities for festival tourism in the region of Vidin and Zajecar. In Zajecar, a new tourist infrastructure is available, suitable for festival tourism, and the performances of three Vidin orchestras have been improved by the supply of new musical instruments.
Within the project, the following main activities were carried out:
1) Project Management. 2) Information and publicity of the project. 3) Joint study of the opportunities for development of festival tourism in the cross-border region. 4) Creation of a joint tourism product for year-round festival tourism in the region of Vidin-Zajecar. 5) Promotion of the joint tourist product. 6) Construction of tourist infrastructure in Zajecar. 7) Supply of equipment for musical orchestras in Vidin. 8) Organizing a youth camp in Zajecar. 9) Conducting Arts Festival “Danube Waves” in Vidin. 10) Promotion of Arts Festival “Danube Waves” and organization of green school during the festival.
Within the framework of the project, a joint study of opportunities for development of festival tourism in the cross-border region and a joint tourism product for year-round festival tourism in the region of Vidin-Zajecar was created. New tourist infrastructure was built in Zajecar. We also provided equipment for the needs of the Arts Festival “Danube Waves” in Vidin – 6 video walls. The Festival tourism was promoted through the organization of a green school and a youth camp as well as a series of information materials such as a 30-minute promotional film and pocket guides.
Closing press conference is scheduled for 22.11.2018 at 11:00, in the hall of the hotel “Bononiya” 2, “Bdin” Str., 3700 Vidin, Bulgaria.
